Except however, for a few slightly worrying new trends in Ultimate Team.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love a Hero In Form as much as the next guy, but just a few weeks in to FIFA 16’s reign we’ve seen more Hero’s, promotions and TOTW In Forms than in any FIFA before at this stage. I’ve written a few articles in the past about the value (or lack of) that FIFA Points represent for gamers and therefore these recent developments concern me quite a bit.

FIFA 16 has been out for a few weeks now and continues to ride high at the top of gaming charts around the globe. As you know already, we quite like the new gameplay once you get used to it, and seeming, so do a lot of people. Others think it’s the worst football game ever made, and so, in many ways not much has changed in FIFA land.

Except however, for a few slightly worrying new trends in Ultimate Team.

The Hero In Forms are in fairness the result of some exceptional early season performances, which in turn set a precedent of sorts. As soon as EA gave Lewandowski a Hero In Form for smashing five goals in nine minutes, they had to do the same when Aguero did. Then when Ronaldo broke Real’s scoring record, it again seemed like a heroically neat fit. So perhaps this swathe of early Hero’s is merely coincidental?fifa 16 coins

That theory would hold more water if we weren’t also seeing an additional five players in the TOTW, and random promotional 2x chance offers to land FUT’s “top” players. Lets not forget that market stability and fairness were at the heart of EA’s vision this year, which doesn't quite tally with offering a double chance to land FUT's best players to anyone willing to spend big on FIFA Points, before even a month had passed since release.

EA have always flirted with crossing the line when it comes to the volume of pack promotions, and one-off Informs. But on the basis that they remained few and far between, and came in volume later in the games cycle, they got a free pass of sorts. That at least allowed time for players to build up stocks of earned coins to spend, rather than having to rely on real money and FIFA Points to access those elite packs. Not possible for FIFA 16 if you wish to stay with the current curve.

Sadly some of the things we’ve seen so far in FUT 16 feel to me like profiteering from the games launch period more than planned activity, and it’s not being done subtly either. If the idea was to include full 23 man FUT squads in the TOTW for FIFA 16 then great. But why do it from TOTW 5 and not from launch? Could it be a technical limitation, now resolved? I may be wrong, but that seems very unlikely given the speed at which EA have injected vast numbers of players in to Ultimate Team in the past. So why the sudden change if not to encourage more pack purchases?

Combined with that (as most YouTuber’s will attest), pack weights this year feel harder than ever, meaning that if you do go after some of the big guys on "offer" the chances of actually getting them are even less than in years previous. I’ve seen countless tales on Twitter of people blowing 150K+ and more on FIFA Points and not even finding a single Legend on Xbox. Whether they have the income to burn or not is irrelevant. Having a system that deals out probability on that scale so unfairly, just doesn't feel right under any circumstance.fut 16 coins

Some of you are probably sat there thinking "well they've always done this, so why are you writing about it now?" And maybe you're right. But to me it always felt like FUT promotions had a legitimate reason. A MOTM was earned, a TOTW was tough to call or a big tournament was on. And yet this week we have our fifth Hero in Wijnaldum and 22 other In Forms which include Ibra and Neymar.

All players in TOTW 6 are I'm sure deserving of their spots for one reason or another, but the sheer volume that this stuff is coming out at is unrelenting. And if anything this new found thirst for unique In Form's actually diminishes their worth And how long before the bar for entry for a Hero In Form is low enough to accommodate a hat-trick? Or a brace? Or a great save? At this rate, I'd give it about two weeks.

The simple fact is, that every time a big or unique player gets released into Ultimate Team, EA's digital revenue spikes. So from their perspective why not release more Hero's? That strategy (if it is at play) is an incredibly dangerous one, and it's a very slippery slope once you get started. As soon as your profits break all known records (which they have) they always need to be bettered in the eyes of shareholders, and for us that only means more and more of this stuff happening in FUT. A self perpetuating spiral of doom if you will.

What worries me most is that these trends however insignificant they may seem to you personally, aren't the end, they're very much the beginning. And that in two or three years time, we could be looking at a shadow of the original FUT concept, which started off this craze back in FIFA 09. I guess the questions is, where will it end? Hero's every week? MOTM's every week? Some of you might wonder what's wrong with that, and perhaps it is okay to have more variety. But for me, these promotions undoubtedly increase the pressure on people to spend, and that isn't what FUT should be about.

The gaming industry as a whole is under the microscope right now with regards to the value proposition of its DLC, season passes and micro transactions, and I wonder how far we are away from FIFA's Skyrim'esq "horse armour" moment, which sends it tumbling in to the headlines for all the wrong reasons. I for one, will take no joy in reporting it, if and when that moment arrives.

How do you feel about the volume of In Form's and promotions in Ultimate Team? Let us know in the comments.

Mmobeys Liverpool and Brazil ace Coutinho set to join Chelsea star in FIFA 15 MOTS

However, that hasnt stopped FIFA 15 fans carrying on and putting together some of the The best/worst FIFA 15 misses weve seen all season. The guys at EA have even put together a new montage of what they believe are the top choices and include some of the top stars from the Premier League. Even the players with the best stats in the game, such as Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid, cant guarantee success in front of goal, as the below clip shows. And with the Summer transfer market in full swing, EA have commenced moving players from their old squads to their new ones. Over the course of the next few months, as player transfers are approved in the real-world, FIFA will make those same changes in FIFA Ultimate Team. EA have warned that although they will make these changes as quickly as possible, fans will have to be prepared for multiple updates throughout July and August. These changes only apply to new items found in packs, fans who obtained a player item prior to their transfer will not see a change while in their collection. See More at:http://www.mmobeys.com/ Example of new changes to FUT can be found here and includes the likes of Petr Cech moving from Chelsea to Arsenal earlier this summer.

the ever-mysterious Martin Cahill.

Boorman's next two films, Zardoz (1974) and Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977) were resounding flops. He left the States and returned made his new home in Ireland, scoring big with the now-classic King Arthur epic Excalibur in 1981. This was followed by the fact-based adventure The Emerald Forest (1985) about an American businessman's hunt for his young son (played by Boorman's own son, Charley), kidnapped and raised by Amazonian Indians in the Brazilian jungle. Boorman was named Best Director by the National Society of Film Critics for Hope and Glory (1987), an autobiographical story of a young boy's adventures in blitz-devastated London during WW II. It was also nominated for Academy Awards including Best Picture, Director, and Original Screenplay. Boorman also recently completed work on Lee Marvin: A Personal Portrait by John Boorman, which premiered November 17 on American Movie Classics and paints a vivid picture of the late actor, one of Boorman's closest friends. Boorman's latest film, The General, earned him a second Best Director prize at Cannes and ranks with some of his finest work ever. The General tells the true story of Irish crime lord Martin Cahill, whose 20 year career netted him over $60 million and managed to keep both the police and other underworld organizations at bay, until his assassination by the IRA ended his prolific, and often comical reign of crime. The General stars Irish actor Brendan Gleeson (last seen by U.S. audiences as 'Hamish' in Mel Gibson's Braveheart (1995)) as Cahill, who was also known as "The General," and co-stars Jon Voight as the Irish police inspector who always seems to be one step behind Cahill and his capers. Rock legend Van Morrison supplies the soundtrack's music. The film opens December 25 in New York and Los Angeles for much-deserved Academy Award consideration.www.gmusd.com John Boorman doesn't look like your stereotypical film director, but has the kindly eyes and reserve that you might expect to find on a favorite college professor or man of letters: a good conversationalist and an even better listener who makes the other half of the talk feel completely at ease. Mr. Boorman, who resides full time in Ireland, sat down recently to talk about life, movies and the ever-mysterious Martin Cahill.

Perhaps what will interest fans the most is to see how the female players stack up to their male counter-parts and how EA go about addressing that.
Nevertheless it is a tremendous decision by EA and it goes to show just how far the women’s game has come over the past few years.
Speaking to EA’s website US national team star Alex Morgan said “It is such an honor for women’s players and our team to be included in FIFA 16.
“I always wondered what it would be like to see our team in the game and it is very cool to know that it is now a reality.”

The series manager David Rutter said that it has been on the to do list for a while and he was delighted to get it done.
“It’s been in the pipeline for a few years, and really it was just a case of making sure that the game was in a good enough state for it the work properly,
“We needed to have tools and technology in place that could differentiate between men and women. Plus, we had to factor in the time and effort required for travelling around the world to scan faces and heads, record motion capture, etc. It’s been on the to-do list for a while.”
Rutter also addressed the issue of ratings saying that whilst female players would hit 80 and so on it would be a bit different to their male counterparts.
“You will get 80-rated players in the women’s teams but they’re not the same as an 80-rated player in the men’s game,
“Our Cologne team [which handles all player data] has been through a ton of women’s matches over the last year or so, gathering details, information and their opinion on the players, in order to create these ratings.”

EA promises soccer fans more innovation with FIFA 15

The game is already the best-selling sports video game in history, with well over 100 million copies sold since 1993.

For this release, Credit Suisse expects sales of more than 11 million units by March 2015, riding the wave of this summer's World Cup.In July, U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard visited EA's studios in Vancouver and was fitted with a motion capture suit, performing a variety of saves, dives and kicks to help create life-like movements. Fresh off saving the most goals in World Cup history, Howard will be the basis of FIFA 15's goalkeeper animations."We're incorporating several Tim Howard attributes this year, for example how well he can dive and what his reaction time is," says Kantcho Doskov, a producer on the FIFA development team.

EA hopes efforts like that counter past criticism of lack of innovation."We're always nervous about fan reaction and critical reaction," says David Rutter, Vice President and General Manager of FIFA. "If we were to release a game that had been lazily put together, wasn't innovative, wasn't addressing the concerns or desires of our fans, they would let us know on Twitter and Facebook and trust me, they do a lot of that."

The company had been voted the worst company in America for two consecutive years by Consumerist, prompting CEO Andrew Wilson to adopt a "players first" strategy.EA now gives fans more of a chance to play the videogames several months prior to release at various studio events and incorporates their feedback into the game's final version.Other improvements include a more true-to-life movement of the ball across the field and "footprints" in the grass as the players run across the pitch.Despite the expected success of FIFA 15, video game sales in the U.S have continued to slide.According to NPD, the number of video game releases in August 2014 declined 41% compared to August 2013.

However, FIFA 15 is set to benefit from the fact that game console sales have been strong, leading to a rise in title sales.EA also creates other blockbuster franchises including Madden NFL, The Sims, Battlefield and Dragon Age. The company grossed more than $3.6 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2014. The stock has risen 62% so far this year.

We Haven't Ruined FIFA 15, EA Claims

The FIFA community can be a real feisty bunch when it comes to EA "meddling" with the game and the introduction of Price Ranges caused the fanbase to implode. Last night, EA took the opportunity to deny they had broken Ultimate Team by making major changes.

Price Ranges were brought into the game on March 9th; they gave every available card a minimum and maximum price they could be sold at. But, to say some fans were unhappy would be the understatement of the century. The knives came out as EA received a wave of abuse while #RIPFUT started trending worldwide.

In a blog post on its site, EA addressed the criticism that has been thrown at them, saying:

What are we trying to achieve with these changes? It's simple-we want to keep the game fair and secure for everyone, and ensure a level playing field for all FUT fans. To accomplish this we have to root out the activities of coin farmers and cheaters who are harming your experience with the game.

The spokesperson argued there had been "positive signs" since the changes were made, pointing to a more stable Transfer Market with fewer coin sellers and bots being allowed to operate.
However, there's bad news for those people who like to use the Ultimate Team Web and Companion Apps: it's not coming back yet. Fans who enjoyed tinkering with their team or opening packs while at work or uni will have to keep waiting because EA say they're not ready to bring the apps back. They were taken down in February because they were providing an entry point for the majority of the coin sellers, but as EA explained:

We want to do this as quickly as possible, and we are working as hard as we can to bring them back for everyone to use…but we can't do that until we've made them secure and more stable.

It's fair to say there was a mixed reaction to EA's statement across the internet; the company has always received a lot of abuse, but if you take a look at any post on the FIFA Twitter account, you'll get a sense of the animosity that exists between them and a section of the fanbase. It's possible that the majority are just trolls, but there are genuine questions being asked of the developers.

EA did make a few promises to fans to brighten the mood: they are pledging better coin rewards in tournaments alongside more special content before the end of the season. EA representative Chu Morah a.k.a. ChuBoi also did a brief Q&A on the FIFA subreddit yesterday where he hinted at the use of a Pink In Form card in the future.

Has EA ruined your enjoyment of FIFA 15 by introducing Price Ranges? Are you having more fun? Let us know in the comments!
